Many people think they need oral care when they experience discomfort or have an emergency. These can be outcomes of failing to focus on preventative oral care. Dr. Arman Torbati stresses that all of his clients pay attention to preventative care.

What Los Angeles Preventive Dentistry Tackles

One thing that Dr. Torbati was taught as a young student was that preventative care is the key to maintaining oral health. Being a Harvard and USC graduate carries a lot of weight, but it is his track record regarding preventative care that he is truly proud of. His specialty has earned him the title of an associate professor at USC.

Check-ups

Setting up shop in Southern California was purposeful. He wanted to be in a place where he could do the most good. Dr. Torbati did not want clients to drive too far to get to his office. People from Century City and Los Angeles can get to his office with no worries, which makes it easier for them to come in for their regular check ups.

It is recommended that you visit your oral specialist every six months for the sake of preventative oral care. This gives your dentist a chance to see if there are issues like infections or cavities before they wreck havoc in your mouth.

Cavity Restoration

Your teeth are attacked constantly. Yes, your enamel is there to protect you against acidic attacks from bacteria, but this can wear the enamel down given enough time. This is especially true with normal American diets, which sometimes include acidic sodas that can wear down your enamel. This processed sugar helps bacteria procreate. Thankfully, Dr. Torbati is a specialist and can help restore cavity damage with fillings, inlays, or onlays.

Of course, your dentist will likely suggest a healthier diet without sodas or foods with processed sugars to help prevent cavities. You might even be taught a few tricks to clean up your teeth, like always rinsing with water after eating when it is not possible to brush your teeth.

Gum Therapy

The gums are as susceptible to damage as your teeth. One thing that your oral specialist will look out for is plaque and signs of tartar. These are bacteria-laden films over your teeth. The film helps protect bacteria as they try to eat away your teeth and irritate the gums. Failing to deal with these issues can lead to gum disease or gingivitis. Do not fret though; catching these issues early means that Dr. Torbati can apply solutions, like non-surgical gum therapy.

Still, it should be noted that Dr. Torbati is a diplomat for the American Board of Prosthodontics, so he knows how to restore any damage that might have occurred, but he would prefer to prevent this type of damage. This is the reason why he stresses check-ups and why he will encourage regular dental cleaning appointments, which should help prevent gum issues.
